Marbella

The towering la Concha peak is the iconic view of Marbella and surrounding areas. Old Town

Just behind the main shopping strip of Ricardo Soriano, you will find the wonderful Old Town with a fascinating jumble of narrow streets redolent with the scent of flowers and orange blossoms and exploding with bougainvillea creeping up the whitewashed walls. This network of streets converges into the lovely Plaza de los Naranjos, a quintessentially Andalusian square shaded by orange trees and bordered by cafés and restaurants. Here you will find a myriad of boutiques and eclectic shops alongside the typical souvenir shops.

Recreation

Marbella boasts an amazing infrastructure of sports and entertainment for all ages: a plethora of championship golf courses, gyms, tennis, paddle tennis, water sports, play areas along the famous beach promenade, La Cañada shopping mall and the Puerto Banus Marina. The Sierra Blanca mountain range, that dominates Marbella, conceals a rustic environment rich in flora and fauna. A mere 20-minute drive away, in a secluded mountainous location, is an area called Juanar, designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The Sierra Nevada ski resort –open from November to April- is a 2-hour drive. As the ocean is right on your doorstep, there is an abundance of water fun to be had.

Day Trips

The beautiful mountains of Marbella offer many hiking trails of differing levels of difficulty. Outdoor enthusiasts can walk miles among unspoilt natural surroundings, with numerous hiking trails in Elviria - the upmarket residential suburb of Marbella just 4 kilometres from town centre. Not to mention Malaga city, just 30-minutes away, with its Arab fortress, Roman theatre, cathedral and the waterfront with a wide choice of bars, restaurants and shops. This in addition to lovely Ronda, and the World heritage listed towns of Cordoba, Seville and Granada.

Along the main street, Ricardo Soriano, and off the side streets you can find a variety of shops such as fashion boutiques and shoes shops for all budgets, supermarkets, banks etc. Let’s not forget the fabulous seafront promenade dotted with boutiques. Further retails options can be found at La Cañada Shopping Centre with over 200 stores, Puerto Banus, and the weekly outdoor markets in and around Marbella.
