Fuengirola is known for its many beautiful beaches, and the resort has the highest rating of blue flags by the EU. The eight km long promenade also constitutes the longest on the entire coast. There is no doubt that Fuengirola is one of the most popular resorts and a centre for the Scandinavian population. Here you will find, among other things, the Church of Sweden, the Swedish School and various Swedish shops and hairdressers.
If you are looking for a proper shopping spree, there is Parque Miramar Shopping Centre, a large shopping complex with almost 160 different shops. Here you can also enjoy cinema VOSE, i.e., in the original language with Spanish subtitles.
Plaza Mayor, near Málaga Airport, is another large shopping area with a variety of shops, restaurants and a cinema. There is also an outlet centre, as well as an IKEA store.
In Fuengirola as well as in the towns and villages around it, there are plenty of markets and shops selling ceramics in traditional patterns, leather goods and much more.
Fuengirola is an area with good transport links, situated a 10-minute drive from Málaga Airport!
If you prefer public transport, you can hop on a commuter train that takes you directly into Malaga city centre as well as a bus to Ronda, Marbella and many other excursion destinations. The train between Malaga and Fuengirola runs most of the day three times an hour and has several stations along the route.
As already mentioned, Fuengirola is popular with Swedes, which is why we find both the Church of Sweden, the Swedish school and various Swedish shops and hairdressers here, as well as Swedish health centres. Playgrounds are usually located in the surrounding area where you live and you will also find many family-friendly amusement parks, such as water park in and around Fuengirola.
Even if you go to different restaurants every day for a half year to have dinner, you don't have time for everyone. There is also a wide range of bars, cafés and nightclubs.
